Case Studies
Tema LNG Terminal, Ghana
Gasfin was a founding partner of Tema LNG Terminal Co – which in 2022 expects to commission the first LNG import facility in sub-Saharan Africa.
Gasfin has led the design of the entire project, including the marine works, pipeline and the fabrication of the floating infrastructure, helping deliver a new 3 mtpa LNG import plant at a competitive price in a challenging marine and logistical environment.
Gasfin’s 28,000m³ Floating Regas Unit (FRU) works in conjunction with an upgraded 127,500m³ LNG Carrier, to deliver 250 mmscfd natural gas, as well as facilities to bunker, reload or break bulk LNG.
The terminal is anchored by Royal Dutch Shell and their long term gas supply agreement with Ghana National Petroleum Corp, but is open and able to catalyse new energy developments both domestically and across the region.
"Providing millions of households in Ghana with cleaner, more affordable electricity"
"Saving over million tonnes of CO2 per year"
"EDF is pleased to embark on this project with Gasfin to improve the environmental and economic performance of the generation assets in Martinique and Guadeloupe. When in operation, this project will achieve environmental credentials previously unattainable for electricity generation assets of this scale that are remote from the large scale international LNG and gas markets."
Project Bonnie, Martinique and Guadeloupe
Gasfin was contracted by Électricité de France SA (EDF) to provide a mid-scale LNG infrastructure solution for the French Caribbean islands of Martinique and Guadeloupe. The LNG is intended to be used in the new 200MW power plants on each island.
The solution is based on a dedicated mid-scale solution including two offshore moored 25,000m³ FSRUs and a mid-scale LNG carrier for regional supply. The FSRUs and the corresponding mooring and riser system were designed for station keeping during hurricane conditions. The project is fully class approved and permitted and approved as compliant by French regulators and while not delivered, provides a construction ready solution for an integrated mid-scale LNG service.
Caribbean LNG, Trinidad and Tobago
Caribbean LNG is a mid-scale LNG liquefaction development located in the industrial zone of La Brea, Trinidad. The project received all permits required for immediate construction of a 500,000 to 1,000,000 tonne LNG export plant.
The 21 acre brown field site is ideally suited for a mid-scale development, with its existing port infrastructure, sufficiently dredged channel and port basin, existing utilities including a new 700 MW power plant and in close proximity to the gas pipeline.
The project was developed in partnership with NYK and National Energy Corporation of Trinidad and Tobago.
