Overview

Gasfin offers a point to point LNG delivery service to enable new smaller markets to access the global LNG supply chain. Integrating deliveries from world-scale, mid-size and small-scale LNG carriers, and providing storage and regas for Offshore, Near-shore or On-shore locations we can offer LNG distribution infrastructure that is optimised and economic for annual volumes from 50,000 to 2 million tonnes (i.e. sufficient to fuel base load electricity generation from ~30 to 2,000 MW).

Gasfin FRU – low cost access to Global LNG

Background

  • The Gasfin FRU is a class approved, 20,000m³ LNG barge that enables economic LNG import from the global supply chain for markets of up to 2.0 mtpa.
  • Designed for operation with an unmodified LNG carrier (acting as FSU) the FRU+FSU configuration offers the same functionality as a large FSRU
  • Costs however are significantly lower as LNG storage can be both optimised, and competitively sourced to project requirements and the FRU can be competitively fabricated in lower cost, smaller shipyards than large FSRU
  • Where older, smaller, cheaper LNGCs are used as the FSU, having the additional 20,000m³ storage on the FRU allows deliveries from larger modern carriers
  • The Gasfin FRU can also be deployed without a permanent FSU to provide ad hoc, seasonal or strategic access to the global LNG market
  • The FRU uses proven technology for all aspects of its design with unmatched flexibility and efficiency in service

Value proposition

Product status

  • Development of the FRU is complete, contract terms with preferred shipyard are agreed, and delivery can be guaranteed ex-shipyard in 18 months

Alternative operational modes

Jetty moored – allows LNG to be landed for container or truck loading

Stand alone FRU service – low-cost option for intermittent LNG deliveries. Delivering LNGC remains on berth until cargo is discharged.




Integrated mid-scale LNG distribution

Principles

  • All components of the delivery chain are ‘right-sized’ to lower unit costs for low volume markets – i.e. smaller vessels, scaled down LNG storage, reduced send out capacity, lower installation costs
  • Operational flexibility typically enhanced by choice of technologies for storage, regasification, mooring
  • Reliability and safety levels meet standards of world-scale terminals

Mid-scale FSRUs

  • Storage from 5,000 - 80,000m³
  • Shallow draft to allow siting in areas with limited water depths using jetty or spread mooring
  • Option to use sea-water or plant heat in air or shell & tube vaporizers
  • Redeployable and replicable
  • Certified for 20+ year on-site operation and maintenance with no need for dry docking
  • IMO type 'C' tank system provides the delivery and operational flexibility required for mid-scale LNG delivery:
    • Not prone to sloshing under partial loading
    • Ability to store LNG for several weeks with no requirement to vent boil off gas

Onshore receiving terminal

  • Experienced with single, double or full containment tank solutions suitable for 10,000 - 80,000m³
  • Easily combined with LNG container loading facility and satellite bullet storage
